Timothy Omundson est né le 29 juillet 1969 à Saint – Joseph, dans le Missouri aux USA. Timothy a grandi à Seattle (Washington) où sa famille a déménagé  alors qu’il avait un an.  Il est le cadet de quatre enfants. Son père travaillait aux chemins de fer, tandis que sa mère était enseignante.

Dès l’âge de 12 ans, Timothy a commencé à étudier le théâtre au Seattle Children’s Theater, une école de théâtre pour enfants de Seattle. Il a également étudié à l’Académie Américaine des Arts Dramatiques, et il a été champion de l’État de Washington en interprétation dramatique pendant deux ans. Il a ensuite obtenu son diplôme des Beaux- Arts et du Théâtre à l’Université de Californie du Sud .

Aujourd’hui, Timothy est marié à Allison Cowley et ils vivent à Los Angeles avec leurs filles.
